Funding Announcement

London UK, July 2022 - - Today we're announcing our $12M Series A investment round led by Lakestar, and Project A, with participation from Makers Fund, and additional support from notable industry personalities including Hilmar Veigar Pétursson (CCP), Phil Mansel (Jagex), and Catherine Chew (Kepler Interactive).

This new funding round brings our total raised to date to $16M, including earlier seed investment led by Initial Capital, with participation from Makers Fund. This will empower us to rapidly expand the team and grow at an accelerated rate, filling key positions in order to bring ‘Sunshine Days’ to market.

“I'm thrilled on behalf of my whole team that I get to share this funding news today.

At Netspeak we strive to get past our industry's obsession with the latest trend or newest technology and make games which truly express the potential of our medium - by building worlds that our players will want to spend time in, by giving them tools to express and explore their identities, and by creating experiences that they can share with friends, old and new.

Our industry is one where a revolutionary idea can come along at any time and completely change our understanding - we believe a diverse team who collaborates effectively in an inclusive environment can and will drive great change.”

Callum Brighting, CEO

Netspeak Games is already building a stellar team of veterans and rising stars from within the games industry and beyond. The studio has brought together brilliant talent with former experience at companies like Sony, EA, Rockstar, Square Enix, Payload Studios, Lockwood Publishing, SEGA Europe, and King, as well as from further afield, having recently recruited talent from Palantir and Microsoft.

“We’ve come a long way to see studios like ours not only living and breathing a team-first approach, but also being funded to support and celebrate inclusiveness. I joined Netspeak Games because of the team’s strong values of diversity, inclusivity and collaboration. Because I know that the studio is dedicated to building a team the right way, bringing together a diverse range of people, perspectives, and backgrounds, and empowering us to make positive, wholesome games for marginalized and underserved audiences.

We may not be perfect, but we’re committed to asking questions, learning, and improving together. We want to make a difference in the games industry - crafting a nurturing company culture and building experiences that are a force for sustainable positive change in the world!”

Timea Tabori, Technical Director Netspeak Games, and Women in Games Ambassador

“Netspeak Games are laying the groundwork now to ensure their success doesn’t come at the expense of the people behind the scenes. I’m happy to be backing Callum and a team that understands why more and more gamers are spending time in wholesome games as shared social experiences. ”

Mika Salmi, Managing Partner at Lakestar

We're hiring. A list of specific open positions can be found here. We firmly believe that great talent doesn’t always neatly fit a job spec; so we warmly welcome speculative enquiries from anyone looking to find a role in games. All Netspeakers are offered remote work as standard, unlimited holiday, enhanced pay structures for maternity, paternity, and secondary carers as well as independent learning days.
